Our Services

Psychological Assessment

A psychological assessment can help shed light on why your child or teen may be struggling in areas such as learning, focusing, daily living, socializing, or regulating their emotions. Assessments can also provide recommendations on how to support your child or teen and potentially open the door to additional services.

Often, but not always, an assessment results in a diagnosis. Common diagnoses include:

Learning Disabilities

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

ADHD

Anxiety or Mood Disorders

Assessments involve gathering information through interviews, standardized testing, and questionnaires. Collaborating with caregivers, schools, and the child ensures a comprehensive understanding of their needs.

While we strive for clear outcomes, specific results, such as diagnoses, cannot be guaranteed. Please note that we do not provide assessments relating to parenting capacity or custody and access.

Psychological Treatment

Evidence-based psychotherapy for children and adolescents has been shown to significantly improve mental health challenges such as anxiety, depression, and behavioural regulation. Therapy is tailored to each client’s needs and strengths. Sessions are typically scheduled bi-weekly, monthly, or at a frequency that aligns with the client’s goals, such as improving mood, reducing anxiety, or strengthening caregiver-child relationships.

Therapy begins with an initial parent-only intake session, followed by a meeting with the young person. These sessions explore concerns, clarify needs, and develop treatment goals and a personalized plan.

Sessions may involve the child/adolescent, caregivers, or the entire family. Our psychologists use evidence-based approaches and prioritize creating a warm, accepting, and safe environment for growth and positive change.

Additionally, one of our psychologists, Dr. Vanessa Strong, provides therapy for adults.
